Tesoro is seeded second in the basketball playoffs.
The CIF boys basketball pairings are out.
Tesoro, the Sea View League champion, is seeded No. 2 in the 2A division and has a first round bye and opens up on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
Troy, Crean Lutheran, Laguna Beach and University are among the other teams in the division.
Among the teams earning berths are Portola. The Bulldogs, in their first varsity season, play at Santiago of Garden Grove Friday at 7 p.m. in the 4AA bracket. Portola took third in the Pacific Coast League.
Cypress, the Empire League champion, is in the 2AA bracket and has a first round bye.
“Cypress has a first round bye, and will be at home vs Beverly Hills/Saugus winner,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell.
“Both Beverly Hills and Saugus are very strong. Their strength of schedule is up there with anyone. Beverly Hills beat Santa Margarita already. We are going to try and keep our rhythm over the next week while we wait to see who we will face.”
Newport Harbor, Villa Park, Trabuco Hills, Corona del Mar and Northwood, Capio Valley and Orange Lutheran also reached the playoffs in the 2AA division.
Edison, one of four Surf League champions, is in Division 1 and opens at home against Santa Margarita. Esperanza, Canyon and JSerra are also in Division 1.
La Habra, the Freeway League champion, is in the 3AA division along with Pacific Coast League champion Beckman, Marina, Ocean View, Mission Viejo, and Yorba Linda.
“We’re excited to get our next season started,” said La Habra Coach Aaron Riekenberg. “Our division is stacked so we know we have our work cut out for us, but we’re up for the challenge.”
In the 4AA division, Fairmont Prep is seeded first. Pacifica Christian is also in the bracket.
in the 5AA bracket, Santa Ana is home against Tarbut ‘V Torah on Friday at 7 p.m.
