After a bye week, Northwood High’s football team is back in action Thursday night to face Bolsa Grande at 7 at Bolsa Grande.
Northwood, coached by Paige Nobles, brings a 2-1 record into the game while Bolsa Grande, coached by Alfredo Silva, is 1-2.
“Our bye week came at a great time,” said Northwood Coach Paige Nobles. “We played two very physical teams, Dana Hills in week one and Troy in week two.
“We had some players get banged up so the bye week came at good time for us so my players could heal and be ready the rest of the season.”
Northwood quarterback Jaden Piazza will lead the offense.
“Our senior QB and captain Jaden Piazza used our bye week to heal and get physically and mentally stronger heading into tomorrow night’s contest against Bolsa Grande,” Nobles said Wednesday night.
“Jaden is healthy and will lead our offense onto the field tomorrow night.”
Nobles said he has respect for Bolsa Grande.
“Bolsa Grande is a team that can get hot very quickly and if you are not careful you can find yourself trailing and scrambling to win the game.” he said. “Coach Silva will have his team ready and don’t let their record fool you. They will be hungry for that win.
“I believe the keys to a Northwood victory is playing Northwood football from start to finish. We will play aggressive, we will play mistake free, play with extreme discipline and capitalize on any Bolsa Grande mistakes.”
Northwood opened the season defeating Saddleback Valley Christian 54-0; lost to Dana Hills 35-28 in overtime and topped Troy 7-0 on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Bolsa Grande opened with a 29-12 victory over Bosco Tech, then lost to Cerritos 47-19 and Magnolia 41-13.
