University High volleyball standout Victoria Holmes has committed to play volleyball at UC Davis, according to University High athletics.
Holmes made her decision in the fall and on Friday, University athletic secretary Meredith Kohl said school officials hope to be able to have an on-campus signing event for Holmes and other athletes when conditions improve. Six University High athletes signed in November, but there was no on-campus ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I am looking forward to having a path already made for me in college. I am so excited to already have an immediate friend group, an immediate home, and an immediate hobby that I participate in,” Holmes said in a comment provided by University High. “I was always very nervous for college if I wasn’t going to play collegiately because then I wouldn’t have these advantages going into college.
“I am very excited to experience seasons for the first time in my life! Living in SoCal, I have always had very little weather change, but when I visited the Davis campus, I was so shocked and excited to see how colorful the vegetation is all around campus! It almost felt like Disneyland! It was very beautiful and I am excited to be able to experience the beautiful campus for four years.”
