Estancia High football coach Michael Bargas believes his team’s offensive line will be one of the team strengths going into the 2021 season.
“As usual we are always optimistic about the season,” Bargas said. “This year we have some good beef up front and hope to make some holes for the running backs and give the quarterback some time.
“Defense was pretty effective last year and we bring back a lot of guys with experience.”
Among the top returning players are defensive back and running back Lucas Pacheco, running back Beto Sotomayor and the offensive line led by Ethan Jones (300 pounds), Bryan Agustin (280), Bryan Andalon (270), Ethan Rodriguez (220) and J.J. Osso (240).
Three players are starting for the quarterback spots: junior Cameron Knickerbocker, sophomore Josh Vasquez and senior Kyle Blinn. The wide receivers are expected to be Trevor Thomas, Jack Burns and Taylor Demairis “and some good talent waiting in the wings,” Bargas said.
On defense, backs Lucas Pacheco, lineman Cameron Rheuling and Chris Pacheco lead the way.
Estancia has its 10 opponents lined up for the 2021 season which is scheduled to start on Friday, Jan. 8. The exact dates are still being finalized, Bargas said..
