Athletes around Orange County are trying to stay in shape as they wait for a decision from the CIF State Office April 3 on whether to continue spring sports or cancel the rest of the season.

They are allowed to workout on their own without coaches present. Coaches have been recommending workouts for their athletes.

With athletics suspended throughout the state, some have been working out at home.

Maddie Lyon, a senior and a track standout at Woodbridge; and her sister Lexi, a junior and a key player on the Warrior volleyball team, took part in an unsupervised workout Saturday, according to their father Jay Lyon, president of the Woodbridge Athletic Booster Club.

Maddie and Phoebe Ladd got a track workout in Saturday, Jay Lyon said.

Lexi Lyon, would be playing club volleyball during this time. She is also a member of the Woodbridge soccer team. She was running bleachers trying to stay in condition and is hoping the club volleyball season resumes.

Then, Maddie Lyon and Lexie Lyon had some fun on the football field.

Lexi Lyon made a 35-yard field goal and just missed on a 40-yard field goal attempt. The 35-yard field goal was taped and the segment was provided to OC Sports Zone.

“It was a beautiful day, a chance to laugh a bit,” said Jay Lyon. “We were following all CDC guidelines.”
