Segerstrom’s baseball team captured a 7-0 Golden West League victory over Westminster Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore Bruno Bañuelos threw a complete game shutout, allowing one hit and striking out 11. He walked one.
Zander Bretza was 2 for 4 with two RBI and Jorge Velasquez was 1 for 3, with a walk, RBI and two stolen bases for the Jaguars (6-5, 3-1).
Tustin 3, Valencia 2: Tustin pitchers Parker Cadacio and Jeremy Haugh combined on a no-hitter for the Tillers in the Empire League opener Wednesday night. Cadacio threw four innings, striking out eight and allowing no runs. Haugh pitched three innings and had two strikeouts. He allowed two unearned runs. Matt Olivares led the hitting attack going 2 for 4.
“It was a typical Tustin/Valencia Empire League game,” said Coach Charles Chatman. “Both teams made a few mental errors, they threw a ball away early on a double play turn that cost them a run and we dropped a flyball late that kept them in the game. In the end, the difference was our guys on the mound. Jeremy and Parker were bulldogs tonight.”
