Cypress High’s boys basketball team captured the final game of Friday’s session at the North-South Challenge, defeating San Juan Hills 64-57 at Tesoro.
The Centurions (7-4) were led by Eddie Spencer, who scored 11 points and was named the team’s MVP. Elijah Vaieula led Cypress with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Christian Chai added 12 points.
Cypress battled back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win it.
San Juan Hills (6-9) was led by Adam Weingard with 19 points.
Corona del Mar 61, San Clemente 59: The Sea Kings (8-3) won their North-South Challenge game behind game MVP Mathys Djomby-Enyawe. Jack Stone had 19 points for the Sea Kings. Max Rumph led San Clemente (8-5) with 22 points,.
Aliso Niguel 62, Woodbridge 41: The Wolverines (8-5) won the North-South Challenge game behind Trent Griffin, who was the MVP with 15 points. Tyler Weaver had 16 points for Aliso Niguel.
Century 55, Costa Mesa 36: The Centurions captured the nonleague game behind Tyler Thomas, who scored 18 points and Rigo Ramirez, who had 14 points. Damian Martinez added 11 points for Century.
Yorba Linda 64, California 55: The Mustangs were led by Luke Ishikawa who had 16 points and Ayaan Ismail, who scored 11 points. Cory Knutson added 10 points for Yorba Linda.
