Segerstrom’s boys basketball team wrapped up the Grizzly Invitational Saturday afternoon defeating Costa Mesa 40-32 at Godinez.
The Jaguars were able to bounce back from a four-point loss to Huntington Beach on Friday night.
“I’m extremely happy to get a win to finish up the tournament,” said Segerstrom Coach Brandon Rogers.
Junior guard Adam Ibarra led the way for Segerstrom, scoring 19 points. He helped Segerstrom (2-7) moved out to a 19-11 halftime lead.
“This is his first year on varsity,” said Rogers. “He’s a long, athletic wing. Tonight, he was able to finish a lot of his opportunities. That’s why he had such a good game. He’s one of the kids on our team that can create a lot of opportunties so it was nice to see him finish those and have a nice game in the scorebook.”
Other Jaguars contributed too, Rogers said.
“We had really good defense from Kevin Avila even though he fouled out of the game,” Rogers said. “He took two or three charges and our point guard (Jerson Quero) played a pretty good game. He really controlled the game on both ends of the court.”
Gio Quero scored 10 points and Aiden Spallone and Christian Dasca added seven points each for Costa Mesa (2-5).
