Cypress players and coaches celebrate after the Centurions, the Empire League champions, finished league with a 10-0 mark.
Cypress boys basketball team wrapped up a perfect Empire League season defeating Crean Lutheran 94-66 Thursday night at Crean Lutheran.
Clifton Patterson scored 22 points, Jared Brown had 16 points, Anthony Tello 13 points and Christian Kim and Elijah Vaielua had 11 points each to lead the Centurions.
Crean Lutheran was led by Aiden Gilbert with 14 points, Jon Scherer with 12 points and Drew Yezbak with 11 points. The Saints (15-12, 8-2) finished second in the Empire League and their only two losses were to Cypress.
Cypress (26-2, 10-0) ends the regular season on an 11-game win streak and the most wins in the county this seaon with 26.
“Our boys came out tonight and wanted to make a statement,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “Their energy was consistent throughout the game. I am so proud of this group. Going 26-2 isn’t something you do every year.”
