Orange County high school baseball highlights, final scores for Tuesday, April 21

SUNSET LEAGUE

CORONA DEL MAR 5, MARINA 4: The Sea Kings captured the opening game of the three game league series. Ben Stone went six innings allowing three earned runs to get the win. Kyle Womack got the save. Will Chavez had a key two-run single and Charlie Kaster went 2 for 3 for CdM (11-11, 4-9).

EMPIRE LEAGUE

FULLERTON 5, COSTA MESA 2: Caleb Brown was 2 for 3 with a two run double for league leading Fullerton (14-7, 3-2). Logan Thien was 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBI for the Indians. Declan Fitzgerald earned the win, pitching seven innings allowing no earned runs and two hits and striking out eight.

Costa Mesa (16-6, 6-3) was led by Felix Tiquia and Kash Foti who were both 1 for 3.

SEA VIEW LEAGUE

MISSION VIEJO 6, EL TORO 5: Mission Viejo’s closing pitcher Jackson Stonebarger got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning to close out a 6-5 victory for the Diablos over El Toro Tuesday in a Sea View League game at El Toro.

This was the first game of three in a crucial Sea View League series. Mission Viejo (13-8, 4-3) leads the league. El Toro (11-10-1, 5-5) is in third place.

Both the El Toro and Mission Viejo Diablos had solid performances at the plate from their upper classmen hitters.

Mission Viejo junior Robert Nestor went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs.

Diablos junior first baseman Sam Ursulo got on base in all three of his at bats with two walks and a single in the top of the sixth inning which gave Mission Viejo a 6-5 lead.

El Toro senior center fielder Nathan Broesamle went 2 for 4 with two singles and also scored two runs.

The teams play again Wednesday at Mission Viejo and Friday at El Toro.

NON-LEAGUE

VILLA PARK 5, CANYON 2: Villa Park (15-7-1) was led by Jack McGuire, who allowed one hit and two runs and struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings to improve his record to 6-1. Ben Hanna earned the save. Justin Lopez was 1 for 3 with three runs scored and a double, Aidan Young was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI and Jesse Olivan-Vasquez was 1 for 1 with two RBI.

SAN JOAQUIN LEAGUE

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 6, WESTERN CHRISTIAN 0: The league leading Tritons (14-5-1, 5-1) were led by Scout Escobedo, who was 2 for 3 with an RBI; Rowen Gale, who was 1 for 2 with a triple and two RBI, Garrett Woody, who was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Johnny Coopman got the win striking out 11 in seven innings.
