Cypress High School pitchers Wyatt Rosales and Aiden Franco are both looking forward to playing for the North in their final high school baseball game Wednesday night at the 57th annual Orange County All-Star Game at the Great Park.

The game, sponsored by the Ryan Lemmon Foundation, starts at 6:30 p.m.

Both players were on Coach John Weber’s Crestview League championship team and both were named first team all-league. Cypress was 18-11 overall and 9-3 in one of the county’s toughest leagues.

“I’m really excited to be there, it’s a great honor to be in this and just happy to be there,” said Rosales, a lefthander. “I just want to go out there and throw strikes and let my defense play, I know they’re good.”

Rosales is headed to Western Oregon to play baseball.

“We had a lot of ups and downs,” he said of his senior season. “But it was fun, my last season year was good.”

Rosales, a four-year varsity player, said his top memory was the the Centurions first game against Villa Park.

“I threw a CG (complete game) shutout,” he said.

Franco, a right-hander, said he is also excited to be playing in the all-star game.

“It’s an honor being a part of the OC all-star game,” he said. “It’s where all the best players get to play at and it will be fun playing with them.”

Franco and the other players got to know each other Sunday during a practice at Irvine Valley College Sunday.

“It was fun getting to know all these people,” he said. “Some of these people I knew from the past, I used to play with them during rec ball or travel ball and it’s exciting to play actually get to play with them as a team.”

Franco also shared his favorite memory at Cypress.

“I would say my junior year on varsity,” he said. “‘I threw a complete game against JSerra, that was a really good game, that was our second game. Our first game we played them, we tied so coming into the second game, I really wanted to beat them.”

Franco said he plans to attend Azusa Pacific University to play baseball and “try to make it to MLB.”
