St. John Bosco High School’s boys basketball team completed the mission Friday night at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, capturing the program’s second state title with a 78-62 victory over San Ramon Valley in the CIF State Division 1 final.
The program’s last state title was in 2014.
Coach Matt Dunn’s Braves (28-7) were led by Jack Turner (20 points), Brandon McCoy (18 points) and Elzie Harrington (12 points, seven assists). McCoy also had eight rebounds. Chris Komin added 11 points and five rebounds for the Braves.

The Braves had a high field percentage. McCoy made 8 of 11, Turner 7 of 10 and Komin 4 of 5 field goals, including three 3-pointers.
Dominic Perfetti contributed nine points and Max Ellis six points for St. John Bosco. St. John Bosco made 58.8 percent of its field goal attempts and outrebounded San Ramon Valley 31-26.
St. John Bosco jumped out to a 28-11 lead after one quarter and led 36-28 at halftime.
San Ramon Valley (29-8) was led by Luke Isaak (18 points) and Mason Thomas (13 points).
St. John Bosco advanced to the state final by defeating Mater Dei in the Division 1 So Cal Regional regional Tuesday night.
