Calvary Chapel High School’s football team is gearing up for a new season under first year head coach Jack McInally.
Jack McInally, who has been the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, takes over for his father, Pat McInally, who retired in January. Calvary Chapel was 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the Orange Coast League last season.
The team has been making progress this summer, according to Jack McInally.
“Our goal for the summer has definitely been to set in a great culture with our guys,” he said. “We are very young and have a lot of sophomores and juniors that will be playing varsity.
The Eagles starting quarterback will be Matt Peters, who “has been outstanding in passing leagues this summer,” McInally said.
“He’s only a sophomore but I think he’s going to be surprising a lot of people. Our skill positions will be led by Jackson Pellkofer, Charles Sparks and Aiden Moreno. In the trenches, Nathan Nieves and Pops Soto will be leading them.”
The Eagles will open the season with a home game against Carpenteria. The non-league schedule wraps up with a game against Beckman as Calvary Chapel prepares for the start of Orange Coast League play.
“Our league is going to be tough as always especially with the edition of St. Margaret’s,” McInally said. “I’m excited to see our guys finally get to go to battle together after all the hard work they have put in throughout the off-season.”
The Eagles play their home games at Segerstrom High School. The team has six Thursday night games overall.
