Garden Grove’s football team is off the semifinals of the CIF Division 9 playoffs to face San Gorgonio Friday night at 7 p.m. at San Gorgonio.

Coach Ricardo Cepeda’s team is 11-1 while San Gorgonio is 9-3. The winner moves on to the championship game next week against the North Torrance-Brea Olinda winner.
Garden Grove reached the semifinal round with a 28-14 victory over Aliso Niguel Friday night in Aliso Viejo.
Aliso Niguel led 13-7 at halftime but Garden Grove outscored the Wolverines 21-0 in the second half to advance.
Quarterback Jacob Zazueta passed for 47 yards and running back Mike Carrillo, the leading rusher in Orange County, rushed for 314 yards on four touchdowns to lead the Argonauts. Ricky Ramos had three catches for 36 yards.
Aliso Niguel finished 10-2 overall.
