San Clemente’s boys basketball team, which was scheduled to meet Los Alamitos Wednesday night in the championship semifinals of the Tustin Classic, has withdrawn from the event, according to Tustin coach and tournament organizer Ringo Bossenmeyer.
So the game between San Clemente and Los Alamitos, scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. was cancelled. Los Alamitos will face Chaparral which defeated Laguna Beach 52-46 Wednesday night in the championship game at 6 p.m.
San Clemente Coach Marc Popovich said Thursday that his team had to withdraw from the tournament due to COVID protocols.
“San Clemente called and said they were unable to play tonight,” Bossenmeyer said. “And they will not play for the remainder of the tournament.”
San Clemente is the second team to withdraw from the tournament. Trabuco Hills withdrew before the event started due to COVID protocol.
