SAC quarterback Ceasar Ayala named So Cal offensive player of week

Santa Ana College quarterback  Ceasar Ayala, who led the Dons to their first victory by throwing seven touchdown passes in an 83-0 win over Los Angeles Pierce College, has been named the offensive player of the week by the Southern California Football Association, the govenring body of the 37 football teams in the region.

Ayala, a sophomore from Eisenhower High School, passed for for 338 yards in the game and tossed four touchdowns in the first quarter. Ayala broke the Dons previous single game touchdown record of five touchdown passes shared by six players.

The Dons also broke the previous scoring record of 80 points, set by the 1924 team against El Centro.

In addition, Santa Ana College’s freshman kicker Aaron Rojas broke the record for most extra points scored in a game with 11 on the night. The previous record was held by Casey Wilson who scored 10 in 1994.

The Southern California Football Association added that the defensive player of the week was Lucio Rodriguez of Pasadena City College and the special teams/all purpose player of the week was Asher Boothe of Southwestern College.
