Trinity League champion JSerra coached by Brett Kay, is seeded No. 1 in the CIF Division 1 baseball playoff pairings announced Sunday by the CIF Southern Section.
The playoffs begin this week.
The Lions, who have a bye in the opening round Thursday are 24-6.
Harvard Westlake is second, Trinity League runner-up Orange Lutheran is third and Ayala is fourth in Division 1.
Crestivew League champion Villa Park is third and Golden West League champion Ocean View fourth in Division 2,
Empire League runner-up Crean Lutheran, coached by Jake Haney, is seeded fourth in Division 5, The Saints play one of five wild card games on Tuesday, hosting Rio Hondo Prep at 3:15 p.m.
Laguna Hills, the third team out of the Pacific Coast League, also plays a Division 5 wild card game Tuesday hosting Bellflower at 3:15 p.m. Freeway League runner-up La Habra is second in Division 6 and Academy League champion Tarbut V’ Torah from Irvine is third in Division 7.
Pacific Coast League champion Woodbridge, Coached by Ryan Brucker, will play its first playoff game Friday at Ryan Lemmon Stadium at 4 p.m. in the Division 4 bracket. Beckman and Irvine from the PCL also advanced to the playoffs. Irvine plays at Chino Hills Thursday in Division 3 and Beckman plays at Ayala Thursday in Division 1.
CIF officials said that 231 teams qualified for the seven playoff divisions.
The championship finals will be held Friday, June 18 at Blair Field in Long Beach and Saturday, June 19 at Goodwin Field at Cal State Fullerton.
