Woodbridge High’s scholar athletes were honored at the Pacific Coast League Senior Student Athlete Awards Ceremony Monday night at Portola.

Woodbridge’s female scholar athletes were:
-Emily Garner, an outstanding track athlete with the Warriors. In her junior year she won the CIF Division 1 championship in the triple jump and placed second in the high jump. She went on to be the No. 2 junior in California for the high jump and No. 3 for the triple jump. An injury sidelined her this year but she is healthy and plans on competing for Princeton University where she will study criminal and social psychology.
-Kaitlyn Lim, a standout player on the Woodbridge softball team. She was named league MVP her sophomore and junior year. She will be attending Stanford University to compete in softball and plans to major in biology.
-Jamie Yeh, an excellent swimmer with the Warriors. This year, she re-broke the school record in the 100 backstroke and won the high point swimmer award at the Foothill Games. She most likely will study humanities next year at Yale University.
-Yukino Yoshihara, a star golfer for the Warriors for the past four years. She was named the MVP the last four years. Next year, she will be attending UCLA on a golf scholarship and plans to major in business economics and minor in accounting.
Woodbridge’s male scholar athletes were:
-Christopher Cooper, who had an outstanding basketball and track career, competing all four years. In basketball, he was the MVP of the team and earned first team all-league honors. He was a three-year letterman in track and this year, made it to CIF in all four of his events. He plans to major in applied and computational mathematics at USC.
-Brett Knutston, who received his letter in all four years he competed in track and field and all three years he competed in cross country. He will be studying electrical engineering next year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and will be running for Cal Poly’s cross country and track teams.
-Jacob Nash, was a three-sport athlete who played football, basketball and ran track for the past four years. His favorite sport is football, which he has played for 11 years. In football, he was named the PCL MVP and was voted on to the All-CIF team for offense. He had 14 touchdowns and more than 1,000 receiving yards.
-Grant Smith, who played varsity water polo in three of the four years at Woodbridge and helped lead the Warriors to their first PCL title. Next year, he will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he will major in biology and one day hopes to attain a medical degree.
