TARBUT V’ TORAH 59, RIO HONDO ACADEMY 39: Tarbut V’Torah’s boys basketball team, which trailed by one point at halftime, captured a nonleague win Tuesday. Freshman Ari Varon lead the Lions with 12 points. Isaac Joelson had 11 points, Yonah Light 10 points, Ryan Baron 10 points and Jake Goblentz-Brown eight points for TVT (2-2).
PORTOLA 83, SAN CLEMENTE 75 (OT): The Bulldogs (5-1) opened the Mariko Memorial Classic Tuesday with a win in overtime.
Colin Huang scored 35 points and Jayden Villanueva scored 19 points to lead Portola. San Clemente (2-3) was led by Jayden Schnabl, who scored 28 points and Davis Blake, who had 15 points.
The tournament continues Wednesday at Portola and Woodbridge.
CYPRESS 71, CERRITOS 58: The Centurions (2-1) were led by Kason White, who scored 14 points and Jonah Kim, who had 13 points. Ryan Gov and Jonas Hanson had 12 points each and Mickey Kadowaki 11 points.
“Cypress played solid defense and had a another balanced scoring night,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “We took a minute to get going, but I was happy with how moved the ball offensively tonight. We ended up with five guys in double digits.”
Cypress will travel to Los Alamitos Friday night.
Former OC Player of the Year, Eayysu Worku, a former Los Al star and ex-UC Irvine player, will be honored.
“It’s going to be a crazy environment to play in,” Mitchell said. “It will be new for a lot of players. They have a great fan base and it’s Cypress vs Los Al on Friday night. It’s going to be fun, the boys are excited.”
YORBA LINDA 68, WHITTIER CHRISTIAN 41: Yorba Linda (2-0) was led by Jake Hansen who had 22 points and Jason Casacchia, who had 20 points. Whittier Christian (1-4) was led by Xavier Carrido and Jase Joseph, who had 11 points each.
VILLA PARK 59, WESTERN CHRISTIAN 36: The Spartans (5-3) were led by Mikey Archer who had 11 points and eight rebounds, Jaaden Ornelas who had 10 points and six rebounds and Jayden Baude, who had nine points and three rebounds.
LAGUNA HILLS 40, CAPO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 36: The Hawks won at the Diablo Inferno. Elijah Laquian had 21 points to lead Laguna Hills.
WINDWARD 71, PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 60: Pacifica Christian was led by Parker Strauss who had 21 points and seven rebounds. Alex Stewart had eight points and nine rebounds.
BEVERLY HILLS 69, CREAN LUTHERAN 68: The Saints (1-1) were led by Kaiden Bailey, who had 28 points. Crean Lutheran hosts Victory Christian Saturday.
DANA HILLS 77, CALIFORNIA 50: The Dolphins hit 15 3-pointers to win the Loara Tournament game Tuesday. Trey Cabrera led California with 17 points.
