A week ago, Saddleback High School’s boys volleyball team was celebrating its first trip to the CIF finals with a three-set victory over Le Lycee in the semifinals.
Saturday morning, the top-seeded Roadrunners (21-2) will try and bring home the first title for the school in the sport when they face second-seeded Monravia at 10 a.m. in the Division 6 final at Long Beach City College.
“Saturday’s match is going to be a very exciting and intense game,” said Saddleback Coach Jose Medina. “What we know about Monrovia is that they have an overall record of 25-6. We also know that they have a strong offense with their outside hitters and middle blockers.
“I think the key to us winning the match would be us playing our A game and most importantly our defense needs to be key in order to stop the offense of Monrovia.”
Monrovia advanced to the finals with a four-set victory over Wiseburn DaVinci.
