Top OC boys basketball teams compete in California Live at Ladera Center, San Juan Hills

Orange County high school boys basketball teams are among those competing in this weekend’s Boys California Live event at Ladera Sports Center and San Juan Hills High School, according to tournament director Chris Nordstrom.

The event begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

San Juan Hills will be the host of the championship games for all brackets on Sunday. Tesoro will host a few games on Saturday afternoon, Nordstrom said.

“We have 160 of the best high school boys basketball teams playing at Ladera Sports Center and San Juan Hills High School from June 27 to 29,” Nordstrom said. “This is an NCAA live event, so college coaches at all levels will be able to watch and evaluate talent. We also have five of the top six players in the class of 2026 who will be participating.”

The initial event was held in the summer of 2023.

The teams in this year’s event will be coming from California, Oregon, Nevada and Arizona.

Orange County teams include Canyon, Corona del Mar, Crean Lutheran, Cypress, Foothill, Fairmont Prep, JSerra, La Habra, Los Alamitos, Marina, Mater Dei, Pacifica Christian, San Clemente, San Juan Hills, Santa Margarita and Tesoro.

The event is presented by the The Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association, a professional organization founded for all basketball coaches in the CIF Southern Section.

Among the opening games Friday are Crean Lutheran vs. Francis Parker at 12:15 p.m. at the Ladera Sports Center, court four in the OCYSF division. La Habra faces Mira Costa Friday at 5:15 p.m. in the Aussie Basketball Travelers Division at San Juan Hills.

Los Alamitos meets Folsom Friday at 9 p.m. at Ladera Sports Court four in the same division.

For schedule information, go to the tournament website and click on specific divisions. There are 10 divisions, most of them consisting of 16 teams.

General admission tickets are $11.
