CIF Southern Section officials announced Sunday the draw for the girls basketball playoffs featuring 224 teams including top seeds Sonora (2A), Santiago (4AA) and Pacifica Christian (5A).
Defending open division champion Mater Dei is second in the division behind top-seeded Centennial/Corona in the playoffs that begin this week.
Other top seeds are Long Beach Poly, Alemany, Ontario Christian, Orange Vista, Gabrielino and Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica.
The teams will compete for 10 divisional playoffs starting with wild card games on Tuesday, May 25.
Open division pool play starts with opening games on Saturday, May 29. The tournament will conclude with championship contests for the open division boys and giirls on Friday, June 11 and in Divisions 1-5A on June 9-10, all at designated host sites, according to the CIF release.
