The folks responsible for pairings for the CIF Division 1 boys’ soccer playoffs should take a bow.
Their top two teams, No. 1 JSerra and No. 2 Sunny Hills will play for the Division 1 title Saturday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach.
JSerra (16-1-1) secured a spot in the finals with a 3-2 win over Montclair Saturday.
Sunny Hills (22-0-3) qualified with a 1-0 victory over host Citrus Hill in Perris.
Anthony Aguilar-Casillas put in a rebound off a blocked shot, assisted by Zach Cardona, for the only goal Saturday in the Lancer-Citrus Hill match.
The win continued an amazing run by the Lancers, the defending Division 3 champions. Sunny Hills has now recorded six consecutive shutouts, including three consecutive 1-0 victories, vs. Oak Park, South Torrance and Citrus Hill, in the playoffs.
