Friars defeat Arlington to capture Loara Tournament title.
SERVITE 5, ARLINGTON 3: The Friars captured the Loara Tournament title with the victory Saturday night. Winning pitcher was Miles Scott, who pitched 3 1/3 innings and struck out five. Luke Wilson, Austin Boatright, Tomas Cernius and James Clark had RBI for Servite. Scott was named player of the game and Hayden Woodson tournament MVP.
FULLERTON 4, ALISO NIGUEL 1: The Indians were led by Eddie Avitia who pitched a complete game and allowed one earned run. Zach Fany was 3 for 4 for Fullerton (5-2). Fullerton Coach Shaun Hill celebrated his 100th career win.
COSTA MESA 3, GARDEN GROVE 0: The Mustangs were led by Michael Joyce, who had three strikeouts in five innings and allowed just one hit. Grady Jackson pitched two shutout innings to earn the save. Wylan Rottschafer was 2 for 3 with a run scored, Brennan Borg was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Jack Shafer 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
ESTANCIA 2, BRENTWOOD 2: Andrew Mits pitched a complete game for the Eagles, allowing four hits and striking out nine. Riley Witte was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Vaughn McCrea 1 for 2 and Jake Humphries 1 for 2 for Estancia (6-0).
WOODBRIDGE 2, LOS ALTOS 0: The Warriors (2-0) were led by Augustine Nagoya, who pitched a two-hit shutout on the road Saturday. Mikey Rubino was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.
SUNNY HILLS 14, SCHURR 5: Chase Morley got the win, throwing 3 2/3 innings. Dylan Lee was 2 for 2, Peter Mellana 2 for 4 with a double and a triple, Andre Katayama 2 for 3 with a double, Rylan Morris 1 for 3 with a double and Andrew Choi 2 for 4 to lead the hitting attack for the Lancers (2-2).
UNIVERSITY 16, LB JORDAN 1: The Trojans (1-1) were led by Chase Nguyen who drove in five runs on two hits. University had 11 hits. Cooper Berger had a single and double, driving in two runs while scoring three runs.Â
Austen Barnett scattered three hits over four innings, striking out three for Uni. Brennan Collins pitched a scoreless inning. The game was called after five innings.
