This week marks a new era for Orange County high school football as most teams compete in new leagues in a plan designed to bring competitive equity.
Games are scheduled Thursday, Oct. 3 and Friday, Oct. 4.
OC schools opted to come up with the new plan which will have a two-year cycle and based on power ratings from CalPreps.com from the last two seasons. There are 12 leagues with teams placed in leagues based on their ratings from one to 69.
Teams in the top-rated Alpha League: Mission Viejo, San Clemente, Edison and Los Alamitos begin league play in week eight and have three league games. Trinity League teams Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran and Servite were not affected as the league remains the same.
OC Sports Zone will publish a full schedule later this week.
