The Santa Ana College offense picked up where it left off last week by defeating Los Angeles Valley 56-6 Saturday night at Santa Ana Stadium.

After scoring 83 points in last week’s win over LA Pierce College, the Dons’ offense exploded for 35 points in the opening half and went on to earn their second victory of the season. The Monarchs dropped to 1-4.

SAC (2-3) took the opening kickoff and needed only three plays to take a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Ceasar Ayala completed a short pass over the middle to Jason Biddle who raced 51 yards for a touchdown.

However, LA Valley countered with an 8-play, 54-yard scoring drive. Quarterback TK Drayton capped the drive with a 2-yard TD run, but the Monarchs missed the extra point and trailed 7-6.

The Dons added short TD runs from running back Andrew Andrade (Orange High) and quarterback David Griffin to extend their lead to 21-6 midway through the second quarter.

SAC then scored twice in the final two minutes of the half. Griffin completed a 61-yard TD pass to Biddle and Nate Ulloa returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown to build a 35-6 lead at intermission.

“We preached execution and no turnovers all week,” said SAC Coach Anthony White. “I like the preparation these guys are putting in.”

SAC added three more touchdowns in the third quarter to break the game wide open. Griffin added a touchdown run and tossed a 32-yard TD pass to Nathan Castro and Kyle Hurry scored on an 8-yard TD run as the Dons extended its lead.

Griffin completed 7-of-8 passes for 153 yards and 2 TDs and Ayala completed 8-of-12 passes for 99 yards and a TD. Biddle caught four passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns for the Dons.

Devyon Benton, Daylen Fuller and Matthew Galvan led the SAC defense as they limited LA Valley to 125 yards, forced three turnovers and allowed the Monarchs to convert only 4 of 18 third downs.
