Capistrano Valley Christian School officials announced Friday that Ryan Van Rensselaer has been named the new boys head volleyball coach.

Coach Van Rensselaer was most recently the head volleyball coach at Saddleback Valley Christian and led the program to five CIF championships. The program moved from moved from Division 5 to Division 1. He was also named the CIF Coach of the Year four times and led the boys’ volleyball team to a state championship in 2016.

He describes his approach as, “having a strong conviction that shaping and mentoring young athletes is one of the greatest callings in this life. Volleyball (both indoor and beach) is simply the platform to sow into our youth, teaching some of the greatest life lessons they will learn. Our program has a commitment to developing daily habits that will translate to growth as sons/daughters, friends/peers, students/mentors and eventually future husbands/wives, fathers/mothers, CEO’s/employees and excellence at every level.”

“We are excited to have Ryan Van Rensselaer join our athletic department and the CVCS family. Ryan brings the exact attitude and values that we are looking for in a coach,” said CVCS Athletic Director Eric Preszler. “He will add immediate value to all of our athletic programs as he leads young athletes and helps develop the coaches around him.”
