It’s been a memorable summer for the Placentia Pony 13-and-under team which is headed to the Pony World Series beginning Friday in Carlsbad.
The team swept the West Zone tournament in West Hills to capture the tourney title and reach the World Series. Placentia will face Vega Alta, Puerto Rico in their first game.
Placentia also placed second in regionals and second in the super regionals.
In the zone tournament, the squad defeated West Hills 5-4, Ceres Blaze 17-8, Heartwell all-stars 10-6 and Long Beach all-stars 5-2.
The manager is Spencer Oborn and coaches are Drew McMillan and Jerry Baranick.
