Segerstrom’s football team struggled in its season opener Friday night, losing to North Torrance 35-7 on the road.
The Jaguars have a bye this week and return to action on Friday, Sept. 3, hosting California High School.
“Friday night was definitely a learning experience for our guys,” said Segerstrom Coach Joseph Tagaloa. “Offensively we were just off a little bit all night. Defensively our guys made some plays, but we’re on the field too long. Our special teams played well resulting in our only touchdown of the night as Erik Martinez returned a kick off to put us ahead early in the first half.
“Overall I was happy with the effort. There are some little things that we have to clean up and that is going to be our focus as we head into our bye week. We play Cal High next on Sept. 3, which will be our home opener. We have to play better in order to compete and our guys know this. I look forward to see our guys in action again, because I know we will come back better.”
