PHOTOS: Record 48 athletes from Santa Margarita celebrate college decisions

Son of new Texas Ranger manager Skip Schumaker among the signees.

Forty-eight student-athletes from Santa Margarita Catholic High School celebrated their commitment to attend colleges nationwide to continue their athletic careers, the largest athletic commitment celebration in the school’s history, according to school officials.

Among the signees was baseball player Brody Schumaker, the son of new Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker, a former baseball standout at Aliso Niguel. Skip Schumaker played Major League baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds.
