Godinez High School’s girls basketball team remained atop the Golden West League standings defeating Ocean View 37-35 Friday night at Godinez.
Godinez (7-1) has a one-game lead over Segerstron (6-2) going into the final week of the regular season. Godinez plays at Segerstrom Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Godinez (17-9 overall) was led by Julissa Mota, who scored 10 points and Joanna Alcocer, who had nine points.
Laney Bae scored 11 points and Haley Bae eight points to lead Ocean View (18-8, 5-3).
“The key was our execution down the stretch,” said Godinez Coach AJ Alaman. “We practice it every day and our girls executed it well tonight. We told our girls after we went 5-0 in the first round that we now have a target on our backs. Everybody is out to get us.”
