“We played our most complete game of the season in our 38-14 victory over La Serna,” Coach Rick Curtis said Saturday.
“For the first time this season our offense got off to a fast start with a 64-yard bomb from Caden Jones to overall player of the game Dillon Booth. Jones hit Taiga Takada on a 6-yard touchdown pass on the very next play and the Saints were up 7-0 and never looked back.”
Booth had seven receptions for 136 yards, five carries for 40 yards, two touchdowns, and blocked a punt near the end of the first half.
Jones, the offensive player of the game, completed 23 of 28 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Nicasio (4-yard touchdown run) and Bryce Coleman (10-yard touchdown reception) also contributed.
The Saints defense held La Serna to one first down in the first half as the Saints stopped the Lancers wing-T attack, according to Curtis.
The Saints’ defensive player of the game Ethan Haugsland had six solo tackles, four assists and two tackles for a loss.
Anthony Jones led the defensive front with three solo tackles, two assists, and three tackles for a loss to and pressured the passer 10 times.
Evan Mack (two tackles, two assists, one interception) and Javari Nash (five tackles, two assists) led the secondary for the Saints.
Special teams player of the week Eric Miao led the special teams units, converting on all five of his PATs. Booth also stood out with the blocked kick.
Miao also kicked a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter to give the Saints a 10-0 lead.
