A number of Orange County baseball teams are beginning league play on Friday, including teams in the Pacific Coast League.
Woodbridge (5-2) and Irvine (6-1) met at 6 p.m. in the PCL opener at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Both Woodbridge Coach Ryan Brucker and Irvine Coach Gabe Cota had to mutually agree to play the game under the lights. It will be a home game for Woodbridge.
Also today, Northwood faces University at Uni and defending league champion Beckman meets Portola at Portola in 3 p.m. game.
