ESPERANZA 63, SOUTH TORRANCE 60: The Aztecs (10-1) were led by sophomore Jackson Fries, who had 20 points. Fries hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left to lift Esperanza to the win. Sophomore Brady Reeds had 12 points and four rebounds and sophomore Mason Moore 10 points and nine rebounds.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY 65, UNIVERSITY 47: Undefeated Fountain Valley forced 12 first quarter turnovers en route to a 24-9 lead after the first period. A scrappy University team played well the final three quarters before losing.
Fountain Valley (9-0) was led by a quartet of seniors. Kaden Khuu had 19 points and four 3-pointers while Kenneth Nguyen had 14 points. James Pennington and Drew Chinchilla each notched eight points.
University (2-8) was led by junior center Abdallah Shami (10 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals) and sophomore swingman Yousuf Chalan (10 points, seven rebounds and three assists). Senior forward Josh Thio added eight points and two 3-pointers.
