OC boys basketball CIF playoff final scores and highlights on Wednesday, Feb. 12

NOTRE DAME SHERMAN OAKS, 71, JSERRA 68: BJ Davis-Ray scored 22 points for the Lions (21-8) in an open division pool play game Wednesday night. Brannon Martinsen added 14 points for the Lions, who play at Santa Margarita Friday.

DIVISION 1

CREAN LUTHERAN 68, SAN CLEMENTE 56: The Saints were led by Jacob Majok, who had 19 points and five rebounds. The Saints play at Brentwood Friday night.

NEWPORT HARBOR 66, SOUTH PASADENA 64: Gavin Guy hit the game-winning basket for the Sailors who will face Pacifica Christian Friday. Jack Berry scored 24 points and Owen Saukkola 22 points to lead Newport Harbor.

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 62, SAUGUS 41: The Tritons were led by EJ Spillman, who had 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Hudson Reynolds had 17 points, six rebounds and four steals and Michael Noel eight points.

SAN JUAN HILLS 63, SANTIAGO CORONA 42: Mason Hodges scored 19 points, Adam Aziz had 11 points and Rocco Jensen 10 points to lead San Juan Hills, which will host Calabasas Friday.

IRVINE 64, BISHOP AMAT 42: Irvine, the Pacific Coast League champion, won its 20th game in a row and moves on to host Pasadena Friday night in the second round. Cooper Stearns scored 31 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Irvine. Holden Stearns had nine points and Jalen Yim and Ali Dal eight points each for the Vaqueros (27-2).

DIVISION 3AA

TUSTIN 71, LIBERTY 39: Tustin (23-6) was led by Elijah Morales who had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Daniel Molina, who had 12 points. Tustin’s Brady Kong set the all-time Tustin Basketball season record for charges taken in a season (22). Tustin plays at Adelanto Friday.

BECKMAN 69, DESERT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 37: Junior Qusai Azem led Beckman with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Senior Sidd Raj had 14 points and junior Bronson Mejia added 11 points and eight rebounds. Beckman plays at Maranatha Saturday in the second round.

EL TORO 69, CERRITOS 56: El Toro broke open a close game in the third quarter to win at home in the opening round. El Toro shot just four for 19 from the field in the first quarter and trailed 13-10. A 21-12 run in the second quarter sparked by going five for 10 on 3-pointers gave the Chargers a 31-25 halftime lead.

Cerritos evened up the game early in the second half, but El Toro went on a run to have a 49-36 cushion going into the final quarter. Cerritos could not cut the lead below six points despite El Toro only going nine for 22 from the free throw line.

El Toro senior point guard Christen Jimenez almost had a triple double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Two of his sophomore backcourt teammates were clutch off the bench. Sean Mendoza (16 points) and Noah Cisneros (13 points) each drained four 3-pointers in six attempts. Three senior starters also made valuable contributions. Forward Isaiah Newkirt had nine points and eight rebounds. Guard Lydo Smith had seven points, eight rebounds and three assists. Center Kaleb Bass had six points, 11 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

El Toro (16-13) will be on the road in round two Friday night. Three seniors scored in double figures for the Cerritos (13-15): Jaylen Barsana (18 points and three 3-pointers), Benson Cho (12 points) and Jaden Ribac (11 points and three 3-pointers).

WOODBRIDGE 67, REDLANDS EAST VALLEY 56: The Warriors were led by Jaiden Sabino who had 24 points. Jason Briggs added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Woodbridge, which moves on to face Mark Keppel on the road Friday.

PACIFICA 77, PROVIDENCE 26: Pacifica coach David Friedman earned his 400th career victory in a first round win. Pacifica will be on the road Friday to face Tarbut V’ Torah.
