Northwood freshman Mia Tomovic was the leading scorer in a victory over Diamond Bar.
The Northwood girls water polo team improved its overall record to 5-1 with a 10-4 non-league victory over Diamond Bar Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Mia Tomovic led the offensive attack with four goals, while juniors Hannah Miller and Sarah Buting both added two goals. Seniors Sophia Abraham and Adrien Lee each contributed one goal.
Defensively, freshman Kaitlyn Kong was everywhere she needed to be with six steals, according to Coach Kyle Kim-E.
Freshman goalkeeper Sanjana Venkatesh had another impressive performance with 10 saves.
“We’re still, unfortunately, without a couple of starters, but again the girls stepped up,” Kim-E said. “It’s nice to see that despite our injuries, we have girls adapting to new roles and developing new skills/fundamentals in these positions.
“For this reason, I think having a few starters out for the majority of our games in the beginning of our season will be a blessing in disguise. We should have a deeper, more seasoned team when we’re fully healthy. I’m looking forward to seeing what these girls can do in league and hopefully CIF-SS if we can qualify.”
