Mater Dei moves into top spot in CIF Division 1 football rankings

The new CIF football polls are out and Mater Dei, following a 28-24 victory over No. 1 IMG Academy, has moved into the No. 1 spot in the Division 1 poll.

The Monarchs had been No. 2 behind St. John Bosco, which dropped to second this week. Centennial is third, Oaks Christian fourth and Mission Viejo fifth.

Capistrano Valley is first in Division 3, Corona del Mar in second in Division 4, Katella is No. 1, Fountain Valley fifth and Santa Ana seventh in Division 8.

Aliso Niguel is second, Garden Grove third, Orange fifth and Segerstrom seventh in Division 9. Northwood is ranked eighth in Division 12 and Ocean View is third in Division 11.
