Corona del Mar’s baseball team, behind the strong pitching effort of Keller Strauss, defeated La Mirada 6-0 Tuesday in a nonleague game at CdM.
Strauss threw a complete game shutout allowing only three hits while striking out four to improve his record to 3-0.
Blake Butcher hit a three run home run to open up the scoring for CdM (8-2). Matt DeCrona, Strauss and Charlie Mannon all had big RBI hits for the Sea Kings.
“I can’t say enough about Keller’s performance,” said CdM Coach Kevin McCaffrey. “Keller was great this afternoon. He competed all game and I am so happy for him. He has two starts against a very good La Mirada team this year and he has shut them out twice.”
CDM is back in action on Saturday with a doubleheader against Capo Valley Christian at CDM. The first game starts at 10 a.m.
