JSerra’s talented basketball player DJ Rodman is trying to decide where he will play college basketball next season, Lions Coach Keith Wilkinson said Thursday.

“DJ is in the process of choosing where he will play at the next level,” Wilkinson said. “He has interest in schools like CBU (Cal Baptist University), Hawaii, Northern Arizona and Grand Canyon.”

Rodman is trying to make a decision by the end of May, Wilkinson said.

Rodman was first team All-Trinity League and second team CIF Division 1, Wilkinson said. He averaged 24.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists a game for the Lions who were 22-8.

“DJ was our senior leader who played in all 30 games this year and put up fantastic numbers and showed great durability,” Wilkinson said.

“The thing I loved most was that he was our leading charge taker on top of leading scorer and rebounder. The kid is a winner and he exemplified that in the North OC Classic hitting a walk off three-pointer on the baseline out of bounds for the championship.

“He also had another game winner at home, hitting a three with one second left . He took and made big time shots, but also did all the little things it takes to win. We will miss DJ and thankful for who he is as a person and how he represents JSerra with tremendous faith, intellect and character.”

In December, Rodman, the son of former NBA star Dennis Rodman, talked with OC Sports Zone about playing at JSerra. Like his father, he would like to play in the NBA one day. (Please click here to see the interview)
