Orange Lutheran High School’s girls softball team was off to a promising 7-3 start when the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We were blessed with a great group of seniors this season,” said Orange Lutheran assistant coach Jenny Miklos. “They were leaders and mentors to our underclassmen both on and off the field. Our seniors did an amazing job creating a fun, inclusive and competitive atmosphere for our varsity team.
“We expected to do some great things this season and are heartbroken for our seniors that they didn’t get an opportunity to achieve their goals. However, they have made a lasting impression on their teammates that will help future Orange Lutheran teams.
“We are so proud of our seniors and all that they accomplished during their high school careers and we know that they will continue to find success on and off the field as all five of them continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.”
All five seniors seniors will be playing softball in college, Miklos said. The seniors are Brenna Begin, Arizona State University; Sarah Casey, Arizona Christian University; Victoria Fragoso, University of Kentucky; Tayler Holcroft, University of Nevada Reno; and Taryn Lennon, BYU.
The team would have held its final Trinity League game on Wednesday April 29, but instead held a virtual senior night on Twitter and Instagram.
