High school basketball tournament updates and highlights for Friday and Saturday

BOYS BASKETBALL

Real Run Classic

Brentwood 77, Cypress 64: The Centurions were led by Michael Wright who had 22 points in the one-day event Saturday. Hayden Roberts finished with nine points and Matt Choi had eight. Cypress is off until the start of Empire League play at Valencia on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023.

MaxPreps Holiday Classic

Ocean View 48, Stevenson (Pebble Beach) 45: The Seahawks battled back from a 17-8 first quarter deficit to capture a win Friday. Senior Peyton Guerrero led Ocean View with 25 points. Juniors Aaron Phan and Brayden Ackerman each had eight points for Ocean View (10-8). Ocean View begins Golden West League play Friday, Jan. 6 at Garden Grove.

Damien Classic

Crean Lutheran 74, Skyridge 65: The Saints (10-5) wrapped up the tournament with a victory and earned the consolation championship of the silver division Friday. Kaiden Bailey had 21 points, six rebounds and four assists, Kenneth Bailey had 15 points, Braeden Davidson had 14 points and three rebounds, Patrick Miranda had 10 points, three rebounds and four assists and Dylan Gomez had 10 points to lead the Saints.

Torrey Pines Holiday Classic

DeLaSalle 62, JSerra 51: The Lions (13-3) dropped their final game at the tournament Friday. Aidan Fowler scored 19 points and Sebastian Rancik and Jake Stafford had 12 points each for JSerra.

Orange Holiday Classic

La Habra 72, Williams, Ariz. 43: The Highlanders (13-4) finished a perfect week going 4-0 in the tournament to wind up third. Grayson Sinek was named to the all-tournament team. He scored 30 points and had five assists and two steals. His eight 3-pointers tied a school record.

Acen Jiminez added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists for La Habra. A tie-breaker was used to determine teams in the finals and La Habra just missed out reaching the finals.

Anaheim Colony Tournament

Orangewood Academy 83, Northwood 42: Orangewood Academy won the tournament title. The Spartans held a 35-24 halftime lead before breaking the game open in the second half according to Northwood Coach Christian Manalo.Cameron Mercadel led Orangewood with 18 points. Alier Alier had 16 points and LJ Brown 14 points for the Spartans.

Northwood (9-8) was led by Zaid Yunis with 19 points.

“Good test for our guys going into a tough PCL league,” Manalo said.

Tustin Classic

Trabuco Hills 55, Laguna Hills 47: The Mustangs (11-7) wrapped up the tournament with a victory in the consolation bracket. Jack Warnick had 14 points and Nate Tuttle and Sam Meza-Tallada 12 points each for Trabuco Hills.

Long Beach Wilson 65, Laguna Beach 60

Santa Ana 44, Pacifica 34: Emmanuel Lemus scored 17 points, Jack Rivera had 11 points and Alexis Neria seven points to lead the Saints in a consolation game Friday.

El Modena 67, Santiago 40 (third place)
