Mater Dei gets ready to run an offensive play in Friday night’s game (Tim Burt, OC Sports Zone)
Mater Dei defeated Centennial 48-14 in front of about 7,500 fans at Santa Ana Stadium in the CIF Division 1 semifinals Friday night.
The Monarchs advance to the finals next Friday against top-seeded St. John Bosco at Cerritos College.
In the first half, Mater Dei’s secondary had four interception returns for touchdowns and the Monarchs lead Centennial of Corona 35-0 at halftime in the CIF Division 1 semifinals in front of about 7,500 fans at Santa Ana Stadium.
Elias Ricks returned three interceptions for scores and Joshua Carter has one. Quarterback Bryce Young accounted for the other score on a 2-yard run.
Glenn Harper has rushed for 74 yards on 10 carries for Mater Dei, which is trying to get back to the Division 1 finals.
