Mike Maceranka will lead his Laguna Hills team Friday vs. Segerstrom.
Former Segerstrom football coach Mike Maceranka will be back on familiar grounds Friday night at 7 when he leads his Laguna Hills squad into a big nonleague game against his old team at Segerstrom.
Maceranka coached at Segerstrom from 2006-2015 and led the Jaguars to five league titles, including one in 2015, his last year. He will be coaching against one of his former assistants, current Segerstrom head coach Joseph Tagaloa.
“This week is just another game for our players,” Maceranka said.
Laguna Hills comes in 1-2 while Segerstrom is 3-1.
“Segerstrom to them is just a really good football team they have to prepare for,” Maceranka said. “I am looking forward to seeing old friends, coaches and players and coaching the Hawks.
“Coach Tagaloa has not missed a beat and the program has continued to be successful. It will be a big challenge for us.”
Coach Tagaloa said he looks forward to the game.
“I am excited to get out there and compete,” he said. “I know coach Maceranka is going to have his guys prepared come Friday night, so it is going to be a good challenge for us.
“I was a part of his staff when we first started the program here at Segerstrom High School, so it’s going to be fun to be on the opposite sideline come game time.”
