La Habra High School’s boys basketball team captured the championship of the Sunny Hills Summer Series Varsity Tourney defeating Yorba Linda 62-40 in the championship game Sunday.
The Highlanders defeated Valencia, Huntington Beach and Laguna Hills to reach the finals.
“We had a couple guys balancing club with this tournament so we had a lot of guys step up,” said La Habra Coach Aaron Riekenberg. “Twenty-26 Josh Desatoff played really well the first two games before getting injured and sitting the rest of the tourney (and) 2025 Jaedon Anderson and Christian Howlin both had big contributions all tournament long.
“We were led by 2026 Acen Jimenez who is gearing up for a huge sophomore season after being named first team all-league as a freshman. Jaedon Anderson kept his hot streak going after scoring 48 points on Wednesday at Marina against Laguna Beach on 13 made 3-pointers.”
