CHAMPIONSHIP:
WOODBRIDGE 51, PORTOLA 50: Woodbridge charged back from a 13-point deficit in the second half to notch the win and the league title, snapping Portola’s 15-game winning streak at Woodbridge. Woodbridge advances to the CIF playoffs as the league’s No. 1 automatic entry, Portola as No. 2 although it’s possible the two teams could be in different playoff divisions.
Jaiden Sabino scored 18 points, Jahan Adloo 15 points and Zac Saleh 14 points to lead Woodbridge. Portola was led by Ryan Novack who had 14 points, Max Paulsen who had 10 points and Steve Yang, who scored nine points.
A capacity crowd filled the Woodbridge gymnasium for the final.

THIRD PLACE GAME
IRVINE 58, SAGE HILL 55 (OT): Ronin Scheinblum had a follow up basket with less than a second left in regulation to help Irvine (17-11, 8-2) send the game into overtime. Scheinblum was one of many back-ups who saw playing time for the Vaqueros as Coach Harry Meussner opted to get all 15 players in. Thiago Ida had 15 points, regular Holden Stearns 12 points in 12 minutes and Francisco Martinez 12 points to lead Irvine, which had already clinched the third automatic CIF playoff spot going into the game.
Jaiden McLeod (12 points), Tre Cradle (11 points) and Everett Yun (11 points) led Sage Hill (10-17). Cradle left the game in the third quarter and did not return.

FIFTH PLACE GAME
NORTHWOOD 58, UNIVERSITY 50: Northwood (11-15, 5-3) clinched the league’s fourth and final automatic CIF playoff berth with the victory at Woodbridge.
University jumped to a quick 4-0 lead before Northwood called a time out and went on a 20-4 streak. The Timberwolves led 23-11 after the first quarter leveraging six 3-pointers, each from a different player, including four off the bench.
The Trojans cut the margin to 33-24 at halftime and opened the second half on a 10-0 run over a 4:20 timespan to take a one-point lead. It was neck and neck the rest of the way until senior guard Sam Alegre hit his fifth 3-pointer of the game to give Northwood a 56-50 lead with about 20 seconds to play.
Northwood hit 11 3-pointers including two unplanned bank shots in the fourth quarter. Alegre led Northwood (12-14) with 19 points. Senior guard Tyson Williams scored 10 points and two 3-pointers off the bench.
University ended the season 7-19 overall. Junior center Abdallah Shami had his 15th double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Yousuf Chalan had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore forward Lucas Haun added 11 points and eight rebounds.

SEVENTH PLACE GAME
LAGUNA BEACH 56, ST. MARGARET’S 36: Laguna Beach rolled in the second half to defeat St. Margaret’s in the seventh place game of the Pacific Coast League tournament.
St. Margaret’s forced seven first quarter turnovers in the first quarter to lead 13-8. Laguna Beach got behind further, but pulled together to lead 30-27 at half.
Laguna Beach limited the Tartans to just two buckets and nine points in the second half to win going away.
Laguna Beach (8-20) was led by senior forward Brody Azadian with 22 points. Junior guard Austin Kang scored 12 points for St. Margaret’s (9-17).
