Estancia High School’s baseball team clinched third place in the Orange Coast League earning a trip to the CIF playoffs and set a school record for wins with an 18-4 victory over Santa Ana at Santa Ana.
The Eagles (22-5, 9-5) broke the previous best of 21-7 by the 1989 team, according to Estancia Coach Nate Goellrich.
Trevor Scott (8-1) got the win, pitching four innings, allowing no runs and two hits and striking out two.
The Eagles were led offensively by Jack Moyer, who was 4 for 5 with four runs scored, three RBI and a double. James De La O was 3 for 6 with a run scored, four RBI and three doubles, Andrew Mits was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and Cole Lefebvre was 1 for 4 with an RBI and a double.
Santa Ana (11-16, 7-7) and Estancia meet again Wednesday at 7 in the regular season finale at TeWinkle Park.
Estancia is ranked second in this week’s CIF Division 6 baseball poll.
