Esperanza’s boys basketball team wrapped up the Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament in Sunny Hills with a 49-38 victory over King on Saturday afternoon.
The Aztecs (3-2) won after controlling the game game from start to finish with a strong defensive effort.
Senior wing Jason Francis scored a game high 20 points including a career high six three-pointers and finished 6 for 8 from 3-point range, according to Coach Mark Hill.
He also had a career high 10 rebounds. Sophomore Cory Johnson was the only other double digit scorer with 11 points including three 3-pointers for Esperanza, Hill added.
Other Rumble for Rosecrans Avenue Tournament scores:
Orange Lutheran 64, La Habra 45: Lancers went 5-0 to win the tournament championship. Josh Griffin was named the tournament MVP.
University 85, Paramount 81 (overtime): Kody Uyesugi had 38 points and eight 3-pointers for the Trojans.
West Torrance 58, Troy 53 (Trevor Seesemann had 16 points and Cole Yancey 12 for Troy).
