Cypress High School’s boys basketball team went 5-0 over the weekend to capture the title at the Westmont Team Camp Tournament in Santa Barbara.
“It was a great team bonding trip,” said Coach Derek Mitchell. “We have nine new players and it’s important that we get to know each other so we can play for each other.
“We have a good core group of guys returning who like to share the ball and get after it on defense.”
Cypress beat Flintridge Prep 75-49, Santa Barbara 75-70, Simi Valley 65-63, San Marcos 73-57 and Simi Valley again in a rematch 71-49.
Cypress players who stood out in the tournament were Michael Wright, Jonah Kim, Hayden Roberts and Ryan Gov.
