CYPRESS 14, TUSTIN 0: The Centurions, coached by John Weber, clinched their ninth consecutive Empire League crown Thursday with a win at Cypress. Cypress (24-6-2, 8-2) was led by Luke Matlock (8-1) who pitched six innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. Daniel Rodriguez was 3 for 5 with a double and four RBI, Nick Montgomery was 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI and Neil Jansen was 1 for 1 with a home run and an RBI.
Tustin (17-10, 6-4) defeated Cypress on Tuesday 6-3.
FOOTHILL 7, VILLA PARK 4: The Knights won their second straight game over VIlla Park to capture the Crestview League title. Austin Overn was 3 for 3 with a home run, double, two runs scored, RBI and three stolen bases; Brett Castillo was 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI, Andrew Parker was 1 for 3 with a home run, run scored and an RBI and Grant Johnson was 2 for 2 with a double to lead Foothill (19-9, 7-2).
Brady Schrank pitched five innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out five. Cameron Kessel came on to notch the save for the Knights.
PACIFICA 4, VALENCIA 0: The Mariners (19-8, 7-3) finished Empire League play with a victory on senior day. Chad Gurnea pitched six innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out nine. Johnny Morales was 1 for 1 with a sacrifice, Aiden Marquez was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored, Landyn Thomas was 2 for 2 with a run scored and Rylan Chastain was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
FULLERTON 4, SUNNY HILLS 2: The Tribe (20-7, 11-4) earned a share of the Freeway League title with the win on Thursday. Andrew Violet was 3 for 3 with three RBI to lead Fullerton’s offensive attack. Carlos Barrios was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Matt Kim pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven.
Sunny Hills was led by Niko Mendez who was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and Aaron Ramirez who was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
Fullerton outhit Sunny Hills 8-7.
Sunny Hills (17-11, 11-4) won Tuesday’s game 8-7 to clinch a share of the league title.
CORONA DEL MAR 4, EDISON 1: The Sea Kings, the Sunset League Wave champions, finished the regular season 18-10.
OCEAN VIEW 2, SEGERSTROM 0: Spencer Johnsen threw a no-hitter to help the Seahawks clinch a share of the Golden West League title. Click here for story and photo:
