Cypress High’s boys basketball team won its annual game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, defeating South Torrance 46-45 in a nonleague game.
Cypress is 16-5 overall.
“Both teams struggled to find their rhythm playing on the Staples Center floor,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell.
Eddie Spencer led Cypress with 13 points. Elijah Vaielua scored 10 points and grabbed 20 rebounds and Christian Chai contributed nine points.
The Centurions (3-0 in league) travel to Kennedy Friday to try and extend their winning streak to nine games.
The Clippers play the Magic Thursday night at Staples Center.
